Felony animal cruelty charge certified

A 22-year-old is charged with a dog's death under a law that yields up to five years in prison. In July 2002, Virginia lawmakers passed the "T-Bone" bill, which made the abuse of a dog or cat that causes its death a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Perry is the latest of a mere handful of defendants in Roanoke charged under that law; city police have charged fewer than five people since the law took effect, spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said.

NACA looking for immediate assistance from members

Galveston Island Humane is looking for two teams of Animal Control Officers to deploy to Galveston Island for at least 7 days and possibly up to 14 days.  Deployment will be under a mutual aide agreement with the Galveston Police Department and personnel will be covered under an EMAC.  The mission of the deployment will be to assist in impoundment of strays and dead animals and other identified needs once on site.
